# Clemson Chair Academy Begins Third Year of Leadership

## Clemson Chair Academy Programs Underway

The Clemson Chair Academy, a leadership development program for academic leaders, recently commenced its third year of New Chair Onboarding. This program, known as NCO, is a nine-month, cohort-based intensive initiative designed to support faculty as they transition into academic leadership roles at Clemson.

The academy was established in 2024 through a collaboration involving the President’s Office, the Office of the Provost, academic deans, and university partners. Associate Vice President for Strategic Alliances Tia Dumas leads the Clemson Chair Academy.

The current New Chair Onboarding cohort gathered on September 9 for a kickoff event that focused on leadership identity. J. Cole Smith, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, welcomed the NCO group and discussed future trends in academic leadership.

In addition to the NCO program, the Clemson Chair Academy has introduced the Academic Leader Learning Series (ALLS) as part of its Stage 2: Institutional Insights programming. This series includes eight workshops, held on Fridays from noon to 1:30 p.m., and will continue through December 4.
