Clemson Coach Updates Starting Offensive Lineman’s Status
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on a starting offensive lineman following the team’s 24-10 victory over Cal. Elyjah Thurmon, Clemson’s starting left guard, had to be assisted off the field early in the game and did not return. Swinney believes Thurmon’s injury is likely a short-term one.
Thurmon, a Mississippi native who finished his prep career in Georgia, signed with the Tigers in 2024. He played all 49 snaps in the season opener at LSU, 55 snaps in Week 2 against Georgia Southern, and 73 snaps in Week 3 against North Carolina. In 2025, Thurmon was limited by injury to 129 offensive snaps over three games, which qualified him for a redshirt.
The Tigers currently hold a 3-1 overall record and are 2-0 in the ACC. Clemson is scheduled to continue conference play next Saturday, Oct. 3, against Miami at Memorial Stadium in Clemson.
