Spartanburg, S.C. — Flash flood warnings for Spartanburg County eased Sunday after heavy overnight rain as the National Weather Service said flood waters had receded and were no longer expected to pose a broad threat.
Nuisance flooding along Lawsons Fork Creek may linger for a few hours with the creek at Lake Forest Drive over bankfull while the river cresting process continued, the weather service said.
An overnight Flash Flood Warning issued about 10:50 p.m. was set to run until about 4:30 a.m. after a prolonged period of steady rainfall produced roughly 2.5 to 4 inches across the county.
Areas of greatest concern earlier included Lawsons Fork Creek and Meadow Creek near Inman, streams near Campobello and Lake Bowen, and low ground near Croft State Park as the heaviest rain tracked toward Cross Anchor, Enoree and Pauline.
A broader Flood Watch remained in effect until 2 p.m. Sunday for parts of the Upstate even as the immediate flash-flood threat lifted through the morning.
Greenville-area travelers heading east on I-85 still faced scattered ponding risks where weekend Isaias rains overloaded Piedmont creeks shared across county lines.
