Fallen tree limbs after a severe storm

Greenville, S.C. — Officials across the Upstate reported storm damage Sunday after Saturday night storms, including a sinkhole on Spring Valley Road off Chesnee Highway in Gaffney and minor flooding in the Cleveland area of Greenville County.

Downed trees and power lines were reported in Liberty and along Highway 178 above Pickens, with several trees down in the Mountain Rest area as crews assessed weekend wind and rain impacts.

In Union, officials reported a power outage after a transformer blew on Toney Road, adding to scattered infrastructure hits across the Piedmont.

Western North Carolina counties also logged trees on roads and power lines, landslides along the NC 226 corridor, and roadway flooding near Chimney Rock and Old Fort, underscoring how far the storm shield stretched overnight.

The National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg office continued river and flood monitoring for the region while local agencies collected damage photos from residents.

Greenville County neighborhoods from Cleveland toward the North Carolina line often see the first runoff impacts when weekend cells stall on the Blue Ridge escarpment, a pattern reflected in Sunday damage roundups.
