Greenville, S.C. — Greenville County Schools set a district record for the third year in a row as its high school graduation rate climbed to 92.2%, according to state report card results released Monday.
The rate rose 1.6 points from the previous year and has risen nearly 20 points since 2012. Of the 15 GCS high schools, 12 posted graduation rates above the state rate.
The district also said 90.5% of the 2025-26 graduation cohort met the markers for College or Career Readiness, the first time that figure has topped 90%. Readiness designations are up 24.9 points over the last six years.
South Carolina Department of Education Report Cards show 98.9% of GCS schools scored Excellent, Good, or Average, and more than one-third of district schools earned the top Excellent rating.
On the SAT, GCS students averaged 1024, above the national average of 1011 and the state average of 1013. The AP exam passage rate rose to 76.4%, with Travelers Rest High leading at 96.5%.
The district virtual program has also gained ground, with elementary English proficiency rising from 54% to 91%. Virtual students take state tests in their home school buildings under the same proctored conditions as other students.
