GREENVILLE, S.C. — Greenville County voters can start casting ballots in person on Monday, the first day of early voting for the Nov. 3 general election, at any of seven centers spread from Greer to Simpsonville.

The centers keep the same schedule statewide: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, from Oct. 19 to Oct. 31. A voter may use any center in the county, and these locations are not the same as the precinct printed on a registration card for Election Day.

In the city of Greenville, ballots can be cast at McAlister Square on South Pleasantburg Drive, the Mt. Pleasant Community Center, Greenville Tech NW Campus on Whitehorse Road and the city Public Works building on Fairforest Way. Praise Cathedral serves Greer, while Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the Five Forks library branch serve Simpsonville.

Bring a photo ID. Anyone without one can get a free voter registration card with a photo at the county Voter Registration and Elections Office. Requests for an absentee ballot must arrive by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.

Governor, U.S. Senate and state education superintendent top the ballot. Closer to home, voters decide five penny sales tax questions: one countywide and one each in Greenville, Simpsonville, Mauldin and Travelers Rest. The county version would put 90 percent of its money into roads, 7 percent into land preservation and 3 percent into public transit, two years after a county road tax narrowly failed.
