SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. — A pickup truck driver was killed and a passenger was hurt late Tuesday when the truck left New Harrison Bridge Road in the Simpsonville area of Greenville County and slammed into a stand of trees.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the Ford F-150 was heading west at about 10:11 p.m. when it drifted off the right shoulder and struck several trees.
Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said the driver died at the scene. Emergency crews took the passenger to a hospital, and troopers described those injuries as not life-threatening.
No other vehicles were involved. As of Wednesday, the driver who died had not been identified by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
Troopers have not said what caused the truck to leave the road, and the Highway Patrol is still investigating the wreck.
