GREENVILLE, S.C. — Smoke on the Water is set to reopen Friday at a new eastside address after nearly three years away from the Greenville dining scene.

Owners say the Southern tavern will welcome guests at 64 Beacon Drive beside the Pelham Road corridor by Interstate 85, with crews finishing work this week and already seating some walk-in diners while they ramp up to opening day.

The restaurant spent about a decade in the West End downtown before shutting in March 2024 as operating costs climbed. A social post marking the comeback counted 957 days of delays and rebuilding.

Plans for the Pelham Road-area site first surfaced publicly in mid-2025. The move shifts the brand from its old downtown footprint to a corridor near a major interstate interchange.

Managers framed Friday as the formal relaunch after a long renovation stretch, promising the saucy Southern tavern concept returns in the new Beacon Drive space.
