Kentucky Fish and Wildlife recaps June regulation amendments

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife has published a recap of administrative regulations that took effect earlier this year, providing a consolidated reference to the amendments now in force under KRS 150.025. The recap is organized around Chapter 2 (Game), Chapter 3 (Hunting and Fishing), Chapter 4 (Wildlife) and Chapter 6 (Water Patrol).

Several of the changes carry an effective date of June 4, 2026, including the renamed wildlife-damage and landowner-designee rule (previously titled “Deer control tags, deer destruction permits and landowner designee” and now “Wildlife causing damage and landowner designee process”), updates to shooting-range permit requirements at Peabody Wildlife Management Area under 301 KAR 3:015, and an impoundment-agent rule for wildlife seized as evidence. Additional items in the recap carry a June 2, 2026, effective date.

The Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area amendment reflects a change of hands: Kentucky Fish and Wildlife operated the 2,261-acre property from 2011 to 2026, and the property was transferred to the Meade County Fiscal Court on July 1, 2026. The deed language provides for no net loss in public access or available acreage under KRS 150.0241, and the shooting-range permit continues to be required at the rifle, pistol and archery ranges on the property.

Angler-facing changes visible on the same administrative-regulations index include 301 KAR 1:201, “Taking of fish by traditional fishing methods,” effective Sept. 3, 2026, one of several fisheries and wildlife items posted alongside the recap. Details on each cited section are on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife administrative-regulations index.
