Tigerville, S.C. — Chowan stunned No. 15 North Greenville 16-13 on Saturday, handing the Trailblazers their first Conference Carolinas loss in a road upset at the North Greenville campus.
The Hawks never trailed and held North Greenville scoreless for three quarters, marking Chowan first victory over a nationally ranked opponent since joining Division II in 1993.
Tyler Adkins threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Dezmond Randolph and Riley Swanson added a 34-yard field goal for a 9-0 halftime lead before Adkins found Amir Alexander for a five-yard score that made it 16-0.
Zachary Jones set up the third-quarter touchdown with a 32-yard interception return to the Trailblazers 40-yard line, and Chowan finished with 245 yards of offense while Adkins completed 16 of 20 passes for 171 yards and two scores.
North Greenville scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, including a defensive touchdown, but finished with just 177 total yards as Chowan improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
The Trailblazers fell to 5-1 and 2-1 in Conference Carolinas after winning the league title in 2025, while Chowan moved into sole possession of first place among the league football members.
