Clemson, S.C. — Clemson returns from a bye to host Charleston Southern at noon Saturday, Oct. 17, on the ACC Network, looking to reset after a 41-13 home loss to Miami on Oct. 3.
The Tigers are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the ACC. Charleston Southern enters 3-3 and 0-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Clemson won the only prior meeting 66-17 at Memorial Stadium in 2023.
Coach Dabo Swinney said the open date was a chance to get healthy, clean up self-inflicted mistakes and prepare for a second half that stacks five ACC games plus the South Carolina rivalry. He wants a dominant showing to reach 4-2 before that gauntlet.
Clemson is 18-6 in games immediately after bye weeks in the Swinney era, and this is the first time his teams have drawn an FCS opponent coming out of an open date. The athletic department is paying Charleston Southern $450,000 for the Memorial Stadium date.
The game is the second of three consecutive October home dates for Clemson before the conference stretch intensifies.
