Greenville, SC – The educational community is mourning the loss of beloved educator Nicky Andrews, who passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 50. Nicky’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to fostering growth and excellence in education, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire educators and students alike.

Nicky Andrews was a devoted wife to Mark Andrews and a proud mother to Jack Andrews. She is also survived by her parents, Teresa and Mike Good, and three siblings: sister Krystle (Akilah) of Colorado Springs, CO, and brothers Marcus of Columbia, SC, and Michael of Detroit, MI. In addition, she leaves behind numerous relatives, friends, former students, and colleagues who cherished her warmth and generosity.

Nicky was an accomplished educator with over 28 years of experience in various roles throughout her career. She began her journey in education as a Gifted & Talented Teacher at Fort Mill Elementary School, where she first showcased her strong commitment to academic excellence. Following this, she served as the District Literacy Coach in Spartanburg District Six and took on administrative roles as Assistant Principal at both Charles Townes Center and Sterling School. Nicky also held the position of principal intern at Greenville Middle Academy before being appointed principal of Greenbrier Elementary in 2008. In 2016, she transitioned to the role of principal at Greenville Middle Academy, further demonstrating her leadership in the educational field.

Throughout her career, Nicky championed the importance of teacher training and quality, serving as the Coordinator of Training and Teacher Quality in Spartanburg District Five. She was renowned for being a fierce leader and an assertive communicator, always supporting and motivating her colleagues and students. Her dedication earned her multiple accolades, including L.E. Gable Middle School Teacher of the Year, Spartanburg School District 6 Teacher of the Year for the 2004-05 school year, and Greenville County Schools Principal of the Year in 2014-15, among other honors.

Nicky’s educational qualifications are impressive; she graduated from Richland Northeast High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University in 1996, a Master’s degree from Furman University in 2002, and an education specialist degree from the University of South Carolina in 2007. While studying at Winthrop, Nicky was also actively involved in the Chi Omega Sorority, further highlighting her commitment to community and leadership.

In her final days, Nicky expressed her faith and offered comfort to her loved ones, affirming her beliefs about her journey beyond this life. She is remembered for her strong conviction and support during her illness as she embraced her Christian faith.

A visitation for Nicky will be held on May 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM at North Hills Church, located at 4952 Edwards Rd, Taylors, SC. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM, along with a committal service immediately after at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC.

Nicky Andrews leaves behind a significant legacy in education characterized by her passion for nurturing growth, empowerment, and transformation. The impact she made on the many lives she touched will be remembered for generations to come.
