The high school sports scene in Greenville, South Carolina, is buzzing with excitement as top athletes showcase their skills on the field. From record-breaking performances to clutch plays, the baseball diamonds are lit up with standout players making their mark.

Record-breaking Win for Blacksburg

In a monumental game, Matt Cody of Blacksburg High School pitched a five-inning no-hitter and hit for the cycle (single, double, triple, home run) in a remarkable 44-0 victory against Greenville Tech. The team set state records for most runs in an inning with 30 in the first inning alone, as well as overall. Cody’s exceptional performance solidified Blacksburg’s dominance on the field and left a lasting mark on the record books.

Outstanding Pitching and Hitting Performances

Several other baseball standouts also made waves this week. Evan Allen from Wren High School delivered a stellar performance, pitching a complete game with five strikeouts and four hits allowed in a 3-1 win against Seneca. Will Bolton of Christ Church displayed his prowess on the mound by pitching four innings of shutout relief and securing the win with four strikeouts against St. Joseph’s.

Meanwhile, Daniel Espino of Mauldin High School went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in a 9-1 victory against Riverside. Landon Fowler of Powdersville showcased his pitching skills with eight strikeouts in four innings during a 13-2 win against Fountain Inn. These athletes exemplify the talent and dedication present in Upstate high school baseball.

Softball Stars Shine Bright

On the softball diamonds, players are making their presence known with exceptional performances that are capturing the attention of fans and scouts alike. Emma Evans from Belton-Honea Path High School stood out by going 8-for-10 in three games, including a home run, five walks, and five steals. Her impressive display of skill helped propel the Bears to a perfect 9-0 record.

Pitching Dominance and Clutch Hits

Kinsley Kay, also from Belton-Honea Path, showcased her versatility with stellar pitching performances, including nine shutout innings with 10 strikeouts and two wins. At the plate, she demonstrated her power by going 5-for-11 with two home runs, two doubles, and eight RBIs. These standout performances underscore the depth of talent in Upstate high school softball.

Multi-talented Athletes Excel in Various Sports

Girls Lacrosse and Boys Soccer Standouts

Across different sports, athletes are excelling and demonstrating their versatility on the field. In girls lacrosse, Addison Moody of Byrnes High School showcased her scoring prowess with five goals in a 21-7 win against Boiling Springs. Meanwhile, Olivia Wallach of T.L. Hanna reached a milestone with her 100th career goal, a game-winner in an 11-10 victory against J.L. Mann. Wallach’s achievement cements her status as the all-time leading goal-scorer at Hanna.

On the boys soccer pitch, Miller Steele of Wren High School displayed his skills with a remarkable performance, scoring both goals in a 2-1 double-overtime win against Laurens and adding two more goals in a 3-2 victory against Indian Springs (Ala.). Steele’s contributions were instrumental in securing key victories for his team and showcasing his talent on the field.
