Sgt. Jumper dedicated 28 years of service to law enforcement, including a decade in the School Enforcement Division, which focuses on school safety. His contributions have made a significant impact on fostering safe and inclusive environments for students. The security center, now named the Sgt. William Conley Jumper Jr. School Security Center, is located at 2 Space Drive in Taylors and serves as a hub for training, coordination, and rapid response efforts aimed at maintaining safe learning environments for both students and staff.

The renaming of the security center was unanimously approved by the school district’s board of trustees in May. During the recent dedication ceremony, community leaders, including Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis and Superintendent Burke Royster, highlighted the legacy and impact of Sgt. Jumper’s service. His daughter, Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputy Cat Jumper, also spoke at the event, sharing insights on her father’s commitment to creating nurturing school environments.

Superintendent Royster emphasized that all individuals who enter the center will be reminded of Sgt. Jumper’s heroic sacrifice and will be inspired to emulate his dedication to public service. In recognition of his bravery, Sgt. Jumper was posthumously awarded the Medal of Valor for actions surrounding his death.

Community members, law enforcement officials, and school representatives attended the ceremony to honor Sgt. Jumper, who was remembered as a man of integrity and passion, dedicated to his role as a lawman. The commitment to school safety represented by the newly named center aims to ensure that students and staff can learn and work in a secure environment, reflecting the values and dedication of Sgt.
