Families and friends, decked out in green, lined the streets of Downtown Greenville on Saturday for the 2024 Greenville St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival. The Irish of the Upstate marched up Main Street from the West End, ending at NOMA Square. The day was packed with fun, as residents celebrated Irish heritage.

A Day of Festivities

On Saturday, Greenville came alive with the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. Families gathered along Main Street, eagerly awaiting the start of the parade. Children sported leprechaun hats, while adults donned green attire from head to toe. The sound of bagpipes filled the air as the parade kicked off, with floats and marchers entertaining the crowd.

Angela Martinez, a resident of Landrum, shared her excitement for the festivities. “I just found out that I’m about 30% Irish,” she said. “I thought, ‘Well, since I’m Irish, I guess I have to go and just kind of participate and have fun with everyone.’”

Perfect Weather for Celebration

The weather Gods smiled upon Greenville as clear skies and mild temperatures set the stage for a perfect St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Families enjoyed the outdoor festival at NOMA Square, indulging in traditional Irish food, live music, and various activities for all ages. The jovial atmosphere was contagious, with laughter and joy filling the streets.

Those in attendance marveled at the creativity and passion displayed in the parade floats. From shamrocks to leprechauns, each entry showcased the rich Irish culture and heritage. Spectators young and old cheered as the procession made its way through Downtown Greenville, creating unforgettable memories.
