Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County Honors Top Volunteers and Donors at Annual Appreciation Breakfast

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County honored its top volunteers and donors at its annual Appreciation Breakfast on Tuesday morning. The event recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to Habitat’s mission of providing affordable housing in the community.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Karen Gagne, who has dedicated her time, energy, and talents to Habitat. Gagne’s commitment to the organization and her passion for helping others have made a lasting impact on the community.

The Battered Hammer Award was given to Cathy Baus for her determination and dedication in building homes for families in need. Baus embodies the spirit of volunteerism and exemplifies the qualities of both the Volunteer of the Year recipient and the Spirit Award recipient.

The Strong Foundation Award was presented to McGee Brothers for their willingness to volunteer and use their skills to help Habitat Greenville build a solid foundation. Their contributions have enhanced the organization’s ability to serve families in the Greenville community.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Steve Worrell for his long-term commitment and continuous support of Habitat Greenville. Worrell’s dedication to the organization has made a significant impact on its success.

Other honorees included Creative Builders and Fitch Irick, who were recognized as the Corporate Donor of the Year, and Complete PR and John Boyanoski, who were named Organizational Donor of the Year. Marshall Barron received the Individual Donor of the Year award, and Christy Brochowski was named Rookie of the Year.

Monroe Free, President and CEO of Habitat Greenville, expressed gratitude for all the honorees and their contributions to the organization. He stated, “This group of people really represent all of our amazing volunteers and partners who come together every day to make affordable homeownership a reality in Greenville.”

Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County was established in 1985 and has been working to provide affordable, energy-efficient homes for families in the community. To date, Habitat Greenville has completed the construction of 410 homes. The organization’s two ReStores, located on Wade Hampton Boulevard and Woodruff Road, accept donations and sell discounted building materials and home goods to support Habitat’s work.
