Greenville Gears Up for Hurricane Helene Parks Restoration Volunteer Day

Hey there, Greenville! Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and help out? The city is partnering with the United Way of Greenville County to organize a big volunteer event called the Hurricane Helene Parks Restoration Volunteer Day on October 26. Mark your calendars because this is a great chance to lend a hand and make our parks beautiful again!

When and Where

Set your alarm for 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on that Saturday. You’ll be deployed to help out at seven different parks scattered throughout Greenville. These parks have seen better days, thanks to Hurricane Helene, and they need your help to get back to their former glory.

What to Expect

During the event, volunteers will be doing a variety of tasks aimed at cleaning up the parks. This could include picking up fallen debris, clearing paths, and planting new flowers—whatever it takes to create a welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone in the community.

It’s going to be a fun morning filled with friendly faces, the great outdoors, and a sense of accomplishment as we all contribute to restoring the beauty of our beloved parks.

How to Prepare

If you’re thinking about joining the effort, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, make sure to wear closed-toe shoes for safety. You don’t want to step on anything sharp while you’re busy helping out! Also, be sure to dress in layers. October weather can be a bit unpredictable, and layers will help keep you comfy whether it’s chilly in the morning or warms up by the afternoon.

Don’t forget to bring along a water bottle. Staying hydrated is essential, especially when you’re doing some physical work outdoors. There will be plenty of opportunities to take breaks and enjoy some water, but having your own bottle makes it easier to stay refreshed.

How to Sign Up

Ready to jump in? Signing up is super easy! Just go to the city’s volunteer website at cityofgreenville.volunteerlocal.com and find the event under their listings. You’ll just need to follow a few simple steps to get registered, and you’ll be all set to go!

Why You Should Join In

Participating in community events like this one is a wonderful way to connect with your neighbors. You’ll likely meet some new friends who share your love for our parks and our city. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of contributing to a good cause. Knowing that you’ve helped restore a local treasure can be incredibly rewarding.

So, whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or trying it out for the first time, everyone is welcome. Bring your family, gather your friends, and let’s come together as a community! After all, a little teamwork goes a long way, especially when it comes to making our surroundings a better place for everyone!

Join Us!

Let’s make this Hurricane Helene Parks Restoration Volunteer Day a day to remember. Together, we can tackle the cleanup efforts and breathe new life into our parks. We hope to see you there—let’s make our community shine again!
