She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and cherished community member, remembered for her unwavering commitment to fostering growth and empowerment in schools throughout the region.
Nicky Andrews was born on July 1, 1974, in Panama. She is survived by her husband Mark Andrews, son Jack, her parents Mike and Teresa Good, sister Krystle, brothers Marcus and Michael, as well as many extended family members and friends. Her relationships were built on trust and respect, and she was known for her warmth and generosity.
Throughout her career, Nicky took on numerous roles that showcased her leadership abilities and commitment to academic excellence. She began as a Gifted & Talented Teacher at Fort Mill Elementary School and subsequently served as District Literacy Coach with Spartanburg District Six. Her positions also included Assistant Principal at Charles Townes Center and Sterling School and a principal intern at Greenville Middle Academy. Nicky became principal of Greenbrier Elementary in 2008 and later served as principal of Greenville Middle Academy in 2016. Most recently, she worked as the Coordinator of Training and Teacher Quality in Spartanburg District Five. Her efforts improved school culture and professional development, positively impacting student success.
Nicky’s educational journey began in Columbia, SC, where she graduated from Richland Northeast High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University in 1996, followed by a Master’s degree from Furman University in 2002, and an education specialist degree from the University of South Carolina in 2007. During her time at Winthrop, she joined the Chi Omega Sorority, taking on leadership roles and providing guidance to her peers.
A gifted communicator and mission-driven leader, Nicky was known for her fierce personality. Her ability to inspire and build strong relationships made her a trusted mentor and advocate for education. Throughout her career, she received multiple accolades, including L.E. Gable Middle School Teacher of the Year, Spartanburg School District 6 Teacher of the Year (2004-05), Greenville County Schools Principal of the Year (2014-15), and Greenville County Reading Association Principal of the Year (2015-16).
The legacy left by Nicky Andrews is reflected in the achievements of the schools she led and the lives she enriched along the way. Nicky dedicated herself to creating environments where students could thrive, championing academic excellence and professional development at every step. In her final days, her strong faith in God provided comfort to her loved ones.
A visitation for Nicky Andrews will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at North Hills Church in Taylors, SC, from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. A committal service will take place immediately afterwards at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC.
