An accomplished musician from a young age, Sapphire excelled on the violin, achieving first chair in her fourth-grade class and performing with the South Dakota Symphony when she was just seven years old. Her passion for music continued throughout high school.
In addition to her musical talents, Sapphire showcased her athletic skills by winning 1st place in the state girls’ singles bowling tournament in 2008. While in high school, she was a strong participant in JROTC. Sapphire embarked on her career early, starting as a pizza artist at Papa John’s at age 14, and progressed to serve as the general manager of a Rapid City Papa John’s until health issues forced her to step back.
Her hobbies extended beyond work; she enjoyed fishing, rock collecting, tackling Sudoku puzzles, engaging in video and card games, and recently exploring diamond art. Sapphire is survived by her four children, sons Bradley (12) and Logan (10), and daughters Kyanite (7) and Garnet (5), along with her mother Rhonda, stepdad Patrick Budd, and her siblings. She was predeceased by her father, brother, and several grandparents.
A memorial service for Sapphire is set for April 5, 2025, at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Rapid City, followed by a reception for family and friends.
