The Rushmore Thunder Boys Varsity hockey team showcased an impressive performance at the USA Hockey High School Division II National Tournament on Thursday in West Chester, Penn. The Thunder dominated their opponents from Greenville, S.C., securing a resounding 8-0 victory in a thrilling display of skill and teamwork.

Controlled Gameplay

Right from the opening face-off, the Rushmore Thunder took charge of the game, maintaining possession and dictating the pace against the Greenville Road Warriors. The Thunder unleashed a total of 33 shots on goal while effectively limiting Greenville to just 11 shots throughout the game.

Scoring Highlights

The Thunder’s offensive prowess was on full display as eight different players found the back of the net during the game. Goalie Brody Lee stood strong between the posts, recording a shutout performance to anchor the Thunder’s victory.

The scoring opened with Carter Kirk finding the net, assisted by Alexander Dietrich in the first period. Easton Knoll and Mason McGregory extended the lead with goals of their own, showcasing the Thunder’s depth and skill across the roster.

Despite Greenville’s defensive efforts, Rushmore continued to press forward, with McGregory, Andrew Welling, and Hudson Beert adding to the goal tally in the first period.

Third-period Surge

The Thunder put the game out of reach in the final period, with Wyatt Reeder, Damien Pongklub, Cameron Ritter, and William Simmons all contributing goals to seal the victory. The team’s offensive outburst highlighted their determination and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

Alexander Dietrich and Wyatt Reeder led the way with four points each, showcasing their scoring touch and playmaking abilities. Brody Lee’s stellar performance in goal ensured the Thunder maintained their shutout against Greenville’s offensive threats.
