Wyche Pavilion plans deferred from April Design Review Board meeting
The proposed design plans for the Wyche Pavilion in downtown Greenville have been deferred from April’s Design Review Board meeting, according to the city of Greenville’s website. The modifications to the historic structure were previously scheduled to be reviewed at the city’s Design Review Board meeting at 4 p.m. on April 18.
The Peace Center owns the site and the pavilion renovations are part of its $36 million campus redevelopment project. The next opportunity to appear before the Design Review Board is May 16.
Submitted designs for the pavilion included adding metal gates and infill to the structure’s ground-floor openings, stone windowsills, interior lighting, and blue thermal-patterned interior flooring. City staff said the applicants decided to defer because they wanted more time to review alternatives to the proposed screening of the structure’s openings. Plans also proposed removing the structure’s north entrance and associated interior stairs.
Other modifications to the site included new landscaping, outdoor lighting, riverfront seating, a river terrace railing and reconfiguration of the pedestrian walkways.
