SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Spartanburg High School will play again next Friday, traveling as the 12th seed to face fourth-seeded Dorman in the upper half of the Class 5A bracket.
Spartanburg earned that trip with a 35-31 first-round win over River Bluff, one of the tighter opening results from Friday night. The South Carolina High School League’s second week of the tournament is set for Nov. 13.
Dorman has home field as the higher seed. Elsewhere in that same 5A upper bracket, ninth-seeded Rock Hill goes to top-seeded Northwestern, seventh-seeded Fort Mill visits second-seeded Dutch Fork, and sixth-seeded Hillcrest draws third-seeded Byrnes.
Pairings are now posted for every classification from 5A down through 1A on both sides of the state, all scheduled for the same Friday. Spartanburg will try to beat a higher seed on the road after getting past River Bluff by four points.
