FRANKLIN COUNTY, Georgia – A pursuit on Interstate 85 ended with a PIT maneuver and felony drug and gun charges after a driver refused to stop for deputies, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said.
A deputy tried to stop a Chevrolet Tahoe on I-85 on Thursday. The driver kept going, and the chase ended on Baty Road after deputies used a Precision Immobilization Technique to stop the vehicle. Suspected drugs and a firearm were thrown from the Tahoe during the pursuit, deputies said.
Deputies recovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, THC products, firearms, ammunition, digital scales and baggies. Driver Colin Bryant faces charges including fleeing, possession with intent to distribute, firearm offenses, tampering with evidence, DUI and reckless driving. Passenger Carley Austin faces possession with intent to distribute and tampering with evidence charges.
