Main St., made its return known through a festive social media announcement, inviting long-time customers back to experience what it described as the revival of “The legendary Slushy Bar.” This reopening brings not only nostalgia but also fresh offerings, including a full-service menu for lunch and dinner, developed under the expertise of Chef Chris Rosensteel.

Recent upgrades to City Tavern’s infrastructure include an open-air concept, featuring retractable doors that allow for a blend of indoor and outdoor dining. The establishment now also boasts nearly a dozen (11) television screens, ensuring patrons can enjoy their favorite sports while socializing.

City Tavern’s decor retains unique and nostalgic elements as well, such as a prominent rhino head and various keepsakes that commemorate its more than two decades in operation. The renovations reflect a significant investment in enhancing the bar’s ambiance and customer experience.

The renovation project, which began earlier this year, was conducted in collaboration with local firms DP3 and Trehel, marking a transformational phase for the iconic establishment. The work included a complete overhaul of the bar’s facade, replacing aging green panels with modern brick and storefront glass, as well as a new steel structure designed to improve sunlight and airflow throughout the space. A new canopy and an enclosed patio area were also introduced, contributing to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the bar.

To support these renovations, the City of Greenville provided $250,000 through its Facade Improvement Program, underscoring the local government’s commitment to enhancing the downtown area and supporting long-standing businesses.

Owner of City Tavern, Jeremy Krauze, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming back patrons while still preserving beloved menu items such as alcoholic slushies and Cajun Phillies. These signature offerings help maintain the establishment’s identity and connection to its loyal customer base.
