GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Greenville Swamp Rabbits tipped off their ECHL campaign at Bon Secours Wellness Arena celebrating a quarter-century of pro hockey in the Upstate, hosting South Division foe Atlanta on opening night with fresh arena hardware already in place.
Fans walking in for the opener could see replacement boards and glass, new telescopic seating risers, a protective ice cover, a center scoreboard and a wraparound ribbon display installed over the summer.
A city-backed $282 million overhaul of the Wellness Arena campus is set to start once this hockey season ends. Financing approved earlier this year blends roughly $40 million in general obligation bonds with about $100 million in hospitality tax revenue bonds and arena-generated cash.
Turner Construction and designers at LS3P are steering the larger build. The Greenville-Spartanburg region recently topped a national ranking of minor-league sports markets for 2026.
