GREENVILLE, S.C. — Families can catch a Viking and his dragon on the big screen in downtown Greenville next month, with the full Greenville Symphony Orchestra supplying the soundtrack in real time.
The orchestra will play the How to Train Your Dragon score at the Peace Center on Saturday, Nov. 7, as the 2010 DreamWorks film runs in HD above the stage. There are two shows, one at 2 p.m. and another at 7 p.m.
The music, written by composer John Powell, earned an Academy Award nomination. The story centers on Hiccup, a young Viking who breaks with his village by befriending Toothless, a dragon his people fear.
Conner Gray Covington, visiting as guest conductor, will be on the podium. During four years as the Utah Symphony’s associate conductor he led nearly 300 performances, from classical and pops programs to family and film concerts.
Tickets start at $39 and can be bought online, by phone or in person at the box office, 300 S. Main St. Every guest needs a ticket, including lap-sized children, and the venue asks that kids under 5 stay home from shows not designed for young audiences.
