SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. — Three preschools in Simpsonville were put on lockdown Thursday afternoon while officers looked for a man who ran from a traffic stop nearby.
The Simpsonville Police Department and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office were both part of the search. Deputies said the driver hit a pole outside an apartment complex during the stop, then left the vehicle and took off on foot. The charges he faces are tied to drugs, deputies said.
Two of the locked-down centers sit side by side on Harrison Bridge Road, with Legacy Academy at 547 and the Goddard School at 557. The third, Big Blue Marble Academy, is at 678 Fairview Road.
City officials lifted the lockdown shortly after 3 p.m. By 4:30 p.m., no one had been taken into custody, officials said, and police have released no description of the man.
