GREENVILLE, S.C. — Greenville County voters head to the polls today after turning out for early voting in bigger numbers than any other county in South Carolina.
State Election Commission figures show 104,608 early ballots came from Greenville County. Charleston County was next with 99,275, and Richland County followed with 92,575.
Statewide, 1,043,810 ballots were cast during the early window that ran Oct. 19-31. That is more than twice the 2022 midterm count, though short of the 2024 presidential year, and no governor’s race has drawn more early ballots since early voting started statewide in 2022.
Voting runs until 7 p.m. today after a 7 a.m. start, and any voter already in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. A valid photo ID is required. Absentee ballots cannot be dropped off at polling places and must reach the county voter registration office by 7 p.m. Results start appearing on the commission website tonight.
