Travelers Rest Couple Charged with Homicide by Child Abuse After Four-Year-Old’s Death

Two Travelers Rest residents are facing Homicide by Child Abuse charges following a months-long investigation into the death of a four-year-old in their care, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said.

Nancy Dianne West, 42, and Bradley Kyle Craig, 46, were arrested at their Travelers Rest home by members of the GCSO Fugitive Apprehension Specialized Investigations Team. Both are being held at the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings.

What investigators say happened

Deputies initially responded to 1318 Chinquapin Road in Travelers Rest on April 24 after a 911 call about an unresponsive child. The child was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

GCSO investigators allege West and Craig — the child’s legal guardians at the time — deprived the child of proper nutrition.
