Storm-Ready Home: SC Safe Home Grant Program
SC STATEWIDE PROGRAM
The SC Safe Home program is a statewide initiative administered by the South Carolina Department of Insurance (DOI.SC.GOV). It provides grants to help South Carolina homeowners harden their homes against wind and storm damage — available statewide in SC including Greenville County.
What the program covers
- Roof deck attachment (re-nailing sheathing)
- Secondary water barrier (ice-and-water shield)
- Roof-to-wall connections (hurricane straps)
- Opening protection (shutters, impact-resistant windows)
- Garage door bracing
Eligibility in Greenville County — SC Safe Home is available statewide. Greenville County homeowners in single-family residences are eligible. Priority is given to low-to-moderate income applicants and residents in wind-exposed areas.
Grant amounts — Grants typically cover 25–75% of eligible improvement costs, up to program caps. Amounts vary by project type and funding cycle. Check DOI.SC.GOV for the current cycle’s maximums.
